Awards committee meets to review candidates
The first meeting of the Awards Committee for 2009-10 was held Friday, November 6th at Conval High School. During the meeting 20 applications for scholarship consideration were presented to the committee by the Conval Guidance Department's Student Assistance Team (SAT). A member of the SAT spoke in support of each one of the students.
From the list of 20, twelve were chosen to receive notification they will receive a minimum of $250 in scholarship money if they complete their diploma requirements and enroll in a two or four-year institution for the fall of 2010. Additionally, they have a chance to compete for six larger awards to be determined by their performance in the classroom and the community throughout the winter and spring.
Final decisions are made by the Awards Committee in the late spring and are announced at the awards ceremony just prior to graduation.
